The DNC releases a tough video highlighting inappropriate cheering during the Republican presidential debates and notes none of the candidates said anything.
Sometimes partisan attack ads also double as legitimate political discourse. Who knew?
To be entirely serious though, the republican party worries me. This has been said many times by many people, but, while I don’t feel like I can really identify as a liberal, conservative thought seriously scares me. There is a reasonable argument for much of what’s good about conservatism and while I tend to debate against libertarians, I think there’s some valid points there as well. But that’s not what this is feeding on. It’s not a reasoned study of Hayek, it’s not even a reasoned study of what happened during the Reagan administration, it’s the logic that things should be a certain way because they’re that way, the stench of a nation that could rot due to entrenched interests. It’s the propaganda machine of “fair and balanced” gay and race baiting. It’s the logic of executing a prisoner to look tough. It’s the violation of fundamental rights and freedoms via the patriot act and the jingoistic thrill of torture. To me, in pretty simple terms, it’s wrong.
